How much worse you got?

The personal likes of a music loving, book reading, film watching obsessive geek who spends way too much time watching TV and getting emotionally attached to fictional characters.

Anywhere (Live @ Glastonbury 2014) // Interpol (x)

Interpol always manage to make songs that on the surface sound like all their other songs and yet even after one listen I’m completely addicted to. I know that sounds like a weird backhanded compliment but its not meant to be. I really love Interpol OK and always end up going though stages where I am completely and utterly consumed by them and then I just can’t listen to them for months and then it starts up again.

I have a weird musical relationship with this band. Basically I can’t wait for their new record.

I can’t hurt no one
And no one can hurt me
At least I’d be free
And probably I’d see
What caused me to be so detached completely

Song of the Day

So many times
I said that I love them
Looking over my shoulder at the door
So many times
I can’t live without her
The wheel kept turning round
My feeling’s changed
I went my own way
What can I say
To make you stay?

I can’t remember anything at all

So I was looking at John Murphy’s Sound Cloud - he is the composer for films scores such as 28 Days Later and Sunshine and I came across this piece which is part of a upcoming album called ‘Anonymous Rejected Filmscore' and quite frankly its one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've had the pleasure to hear.

I am a huge fan of soundtrack scores as I’ve said before and this one just completely blew me away. I’ve had it stuck in my head since first hearing it last night and I just wanted to share it.  The track is available on ITunes

The Ruby Friedman Orchestra,
You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive

Where the sun comes up about ten in the morning
And the sun goes down about three in the day
And you fill your cup with whatever bitter brew you’re drinking
And you spend your life just thinkin’ of how to get away

Another great cover of “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” to close out another great season of Justified, still one of the best shows on television.

In the deep dark hills of eastern Kentucky
That’s the place where I trace my bloodline
And it’s there I read on a hillside gravestone
You will never leave Harlan alive

May be my favourite version yet.
