This was so awkward and hilarious and Amy’s face was perfect

“Where I come from, we kill people for looking at us funny. We waterboard folks who haven’t done anything.”

Nobody can know about this, alright? Especially Kent. And why is that? Because he’s going to use it against me…

What a great episode this was

Kent: We can laugh at ourselves. Maybe you should do a funny bit about the photograph!

hahahah

Amy: You, during the declaration of independence, with Mary Magdalene at the Crucifixion, 2004 tsunami…

Sue, did the President call?

Remakes of British shows rarely go well but after a failed attempt to bring The Thick of It to US screens, HBO struck gold with Veep. It works because it isn’t a remake but more like it takes the spirit of Malcolm Tucker and Co and puts it into the Vice President office with hilarious results.

It helps of course that Armando Iannucci is at the helm and also the cast are extremely funny and very good at what they do, especially Julia Louis-Dreyfus as VP Selina Meyer.

The shear futilely of being Vice President brings with it a whole lot of comedy but also the audience gets to share Selina’s frustration at having power only in name and fighting against the politics of the White House in an effort to achieve anything.

They’re in the secret service for Christ’s sake. Secret as in shut the fuck up. Service as in you work for me so shut the fuck up.
