Last.FM Top 20 Artists I Listened To In 2011
The Strokes at number one is no surprise at all considering how much I played Angles when it came out and how much I generally listened to them a hell of a lot especially in the first half the the year
PJ Harvey makes sense as Let England Shake is my record of the year and I basically blasted that non-stop for the whole of February
There is always time for the Manic Street Preachers in my life. Always.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds well I adore them so much and I still annoys me how Last.fm hasn’t merged the &/and version of their name otherwise they would be so much higher on my overall chart.
Pulp came back this year, proved to be as good as they ever where and made me feel like 14 again only with less depression and I think better dress sense.
Radiohead would probably have been higher but The King of Limbs is not a record I can listen to all the time, it has to fit my mood.
British Sea Power generally consume me most years.
Anna Ternheim I am a little surprised at I thought I listened to her more in 2010 but clearly I was still obsessing over Leaving On A Mayday this year as well.
Jeff Buckley, always and forever
Sia is that high because I don’t have many happy dancing albums so when I am in the mood to dance I always put We Are Born on.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Bat For Lashes were number one on my list next year, need a new record badly.
Michael Jackson, here for the same reason Sia is, I like to dance on occasion
Pearl Jam, I went a little bit Grunge mad this year, all the PJ20 stuff made me nostalgic.
The Smiths, no clue why they are in the Top 20, must have just been in the mood.
I don’t remember listening to Bright Eyes that much, apparently I did.
Led Zeppelin, occasionally I just like to rock out
The Czars, oh this band I wish they were around still so I could see them
Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter, this is insane I only downloaded their albums on Wednesday, yeah when I obsess I obsess hard
Once I hear one Interpol song I usually binge on them for a few days
The Beatles, heck I think I was having an Abbey Road moment

Bonus Album of the year
Everything you know so well / Is bound by hushed devotion / And in the shapes we used to be / I remember asking / Why mirror all that moves / To be soothe, yet still be lacking
Added very last minute as in the 29th December 2011 I want to make Marble Son by Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter my 11th choice because it is completely and utterly taking over my mind and soul and will continue to in the final days of 2011.
British Sea Power - Valhalla Dancehall
Release Date - January 10 2011
After the superb Zeus EP comes the band fifth record, which promises once again to take over my mind and never let it go.
British Sea Power - Zeus EP
Song - Bear
Technically an EP but at 8 tracks and 40 minutes longer than most albums. BSP consistently bring the goods and I can’t wait for their new album in January.
Song of the Day
British Sea Power - Living Is So Easy
Mere months after releasing an EP full of goodies, BSP have a new album scheduled for January 10 2011 and thus continue to own my soul for another year
Boy Vertiginous by British Sea Power
Underrated, consistently brilliant band
Song of the Day
One fine day before the apocalypse,
And I know it’s not impossible.
From a hill top,
Worn out short grass,
I don’t know how long it can last.
Up then toward the see saw.
Up then toward the gibberish.
Up then toward being a bore
Up then toward the apocalypse.
British Sea Power - A Trip Out (2008)
I love this band so much
