The tags speak the truth, Scarlett was amazing. Natasha is going to be the kind of role model for girls that I had with Ripley and Sarah Connor growing up.

If I beg Marvel enough do you think they could do a Black Widow/Hawkeye movie with lots of flashbacks because damn I love all the teases and hints we get of their past in the Avengers. Also hotness.

The Avengers was everything I needed and wanted it to be, everything I hoped for in such an ambitious project.
“There was an idea…” – Nick Fury
I didn’t grow up with comics like some and I would say that the DC superheroes always had more of an impact in my life simply because they were around more from the Adam West Batman TV Series to the Christopher Reeves Superman movies and then the great work done by directors like Burton, Nolan and Raimi.
Yet still the earliest superheroes I actually remember came in the form of Captain America and Thor. When I was only four I would sneak down every Saturday morning at 6am and watch the 1960s cartoon series. Then of course I knew the Hulk because of the brilliant Bill Bixby show. Yet until Iron Man hit the screens in 2008 I was kind of oblivious to the greater world of Marvel. I loved the hell out of that movie though and its sequel (which I think improves on repeated viewing); I also enjoyed a lot of what The Incredible Hulk had to offer.
When the moment came at Comic Con 2010 and The Avengers was officially announced even though I had no idea who Hawkeye was and only knew of Black Widow through her underwritten but badass performance in Iron Man 2 I was intrigued and ecstatic for this movie because Joss Whedon was directing.
Whedon had won me over to his wonderful world of storytelling in the late 90s from the moment Buffy staked vampire and made a witty remark. I would continue to follow and adore his work and like many fans mourn the untimely loss of his shows.
More than anything I wanted The Avengers to work for Joss. I wanted the story of a God, Super solider, billionaire playboy, angry troubled scientist and some damn awesome spies to be a huge success not just commercially but critically and on a storytelling level.
With great relief and happiness and the kind of joy which can be rare in these days I can say without a doubt The Avengers achieved this.
Some spoilers from here on (nothing major)
New Avengers clip featuring Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff
Obviously contains spoilers
“I’m sorry that was mean”
!!!! Unable to function due to Bruce’s brilliance
“Black Widow is all business. She’s sort of in a grey area. In a sense she’s been fighting the good fight, despite her dark background. But she’s committed because she has to be and her moral ground is more dutiful. She’s militaristic in that way; that’s how she knows right from wrong.” - Scarlett Johansson on Black Widow

Buffy would go easy at first, but as soon as Natasha popped her with a Widow Sting, she’d start bringing some slayer brawn to the fray. Natasha’s fast, but a couple of good connects and she’s wobbling, possibly something broken — she whips out her glock and now Buffy’s dodging — right where Natasha wants her. Natasha shoots the cable holding the steel barrels and they tumble onto Buffy, nearly burying her — Buffy just arcs out of the way, grabbing the splintered cable and swinging directly onto Natasha, a bullet grazing her cheek as her feet land hard on the Russian’s shoulders, sending her back flat — crack! — on the floor, Buffy wrenching the gun away and tossing it, fist ready for the final strike. Natasha, struggling to stay conscious, says the fight’s over. Buffy agrees, but Natasha explains: She poisoned Buffy hours ago. That waitress that brought her salad …? Natasha smiles. The poison is dormant — ‘til it’s activated by adrenaline. Buffy’s eyes narrow. “Too bad I didn’t use any.” Wham! Natasha’s out for the count, and Buffy’s heading — slowly — to Willow for a mystical cleanse.
This is amazing

BARTON’S BEEN COMPROMISED.
If you watch this clip and still dislike Black Widow, I am judging you so fucking hard

!!!!! Whedon dialogue alert, I mean I love Black Widow already but I get the feeling this movie is going to win over any haters.
Though it probably won’t as they will be like ‘wah wah why can’t so and so have more screen time’ even though Joss is basically trying not to turn it into a ‘sausage fest’ by giving Natasha a strong role which I am so down with.
Everyone looks so awkward in their civilian clothes
